Calabria has a moderate variety of chestnuts, which have a high calorie intake. Chestnuts are a source of minerals such as phosphorus and potassium, with antiseptic and strengthening functions, and a source of magnesium ,which improves our mood and helps our immune system.
These cooked must chestnuts are a typical Calabrian delicacy, since chestnuts grow in Sila’s woods. Once out of their shell, they are cooked and put into glass jars with must. They can be tasted pure, or with ice creams, especially with Panna cotta.
